WHAT IS VICTORY GARDENING 2?This blog is about the ideas and concepts behind "Victory Gardening 2.0", which can be read both as "Victory Gardening Squared" and "Victory Gardening, Version 2.0" (in reference to ideas such as "Web 2.0").
"Victory Gardening 2" is both Version 2.0 of Victory Gardening, as well as Victory Gardening Squared. VG2 is the current incarnation of the Victory Garden approach, which helped overcome the Great Depression and win World War II. Only better and even more powerful -- truly an idea for which the time has come!
During World War II, (and before that, during the Great Depression, under other names) , in times of hardship not dissimilar to the times in which we live, up to 40% of the food people ate in the USA was produced in "Victory Gardens", and this, almost entirely organically.
Victory Gardening was then heavily promoted by local, state & federal authorities. As it will sooner or later again be.
Today, many experts believe it remains one of the best possible response to the economic Crisis, rising oil and gas prices, constantly higher prices for conventional "health care", and constantly degraded and degrading food supplies.
